The spotlight on cuisine in the Moulins district. A culinary competition bringing together four associations of the city took place at CAL St Augustin. Organized by the association “Cultivons ensemble”, this is the first time such an event has taken place in the Moulins.

Ouidad BOUDJEMAA, head of the “Cultivons ensemble” association, is enthusiastic: “We wanted to organize this competition to reward our members and bring the neighborhood to life. Instead of hosting a simple meal, we had the idea of a culinary competition involving other Moulins associations.”

Four organizations were selected to try their luck: Maison chrรฉtienne, Adam, Aide aux moulins, and Cultivons ensemble. “We received many participation requests. We had to limit the registrations,” confides Linda. To participate in the competition, candidates had to agree to a few rules. Each association could present a duo tasked with cooking a dish and a dessert. A budget of 20 euros was allocated to each duo. To avoid any inequality, a member of each association was responsible for giving the start signal to other candidates. Thus, everyone was able to start at the same time.

After two and a half hours of preparation, the aspiring chefs presented their delicious dishes to the jury. Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, President of the jury, had difficulty deciding among the candidates: “I am honored to taste these dishes. But the choice is difficult. It’s proof that star-quality tables are at the heart of the Moulins district. Who knows, maybe one day a star chef will come from the neighborhood?” Finally, it’s the duo from the “Cultivons ensemble” association that will be rewarded. The two winners earn the right to accompany the brigade of the Michelin-starred restaurant, “Aphrodite” by chef David Faure.

Leila, one of the two young women rewarded, shares her surprise: “Above all, I have a passion for gastronomy. My goal was to offer dishes that are culinary interesting and balanced. I also wanted to highlight the flavors of the Mediterranean.” The chicken roulade accompanied by wild rice and the crunchy red fruit tart on its pistachio cloud seems to have won over the four jury members. Amid the applause of a dozen close friends, the candidates pose for the photo. A convivial atmosphere synonymous with a successful competition. Leila hopes to organize such an event every year.
