For the third consecutive year, Nice Cรดte d’Azur Athletics is organizing a major day dedicated to sports, health, and well-being: “Nice en Forme,” which will be held on Wednesday, June 12, at the Charles Ehrmann Sports Park in Nice.
Name and location changes for the former “Journรฉe de la Forme,” now called “Nice en Forme,” which moves to the Charles Ehrmann Sports Park following the closure of the Jardin Albert 1er for renovation work.
The format, however, remains the same as the previous two editions: a free, all-day event open to everyone to learn about the benefits of physical exercise on health, explore well-being sports practices (Nordic walking, fitness, mini-athletics) and assess their fitness level (Diagnoform fitness test, VMA endurance test, eval’athlรฉ).
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the “Nice en Forme” village will come alive with numerous activities led by sports and health professionals: the League Against Cancer, the Alpes-Maritimes General Councilโs Health Info Bus, Genรฉvrier Laboratories, the Regional Center for Biology and Sports Medicine, the Heart Health Club of Antibes, the Gym Dante Athlรฉ-Santรฉ 06, and the Atman Institute.
Sponsored by former athletics world champion Stรฉphane Diagana, this public day is part of a global initiative launched in 2011, aimed at raising awareness among the people of Nice about the health benefits of sports.
With support from the City of Nice, the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, and the PACA Region, Nice Cรดte d’Azur Athletics has assessed the fitness of thousands of primary, middle, and high school students in the city through a simple and fun test: the Diagnoform, which measures the main physical qualities of participants (endurance, strength, speed, coordination, and flexibility).
This year, nearly 2,000 students from Nice-Nord primary schools and Risso Middle School have already evaluated their fitness.
The initiative will resume in the 2013/2014 school year with an ambitious long-term goal: to have every student in the city take the test!
