Andrés Marín
dance / flamenco

-Flamenco is Andrés Marín’s creed and his entire life. Nicknamed “the Picasso of baile,” this creator, whose elegant and understated style draws from tradition to innovate the avant-garde, captivates every time. Like in 2003, when he moved the theater of Grasse with Mas Alla Del Tiempo… In his new piece for 1 dancer, 1 singer, and 1 musician, Andrés Marín focuses on the essentials and pays a magnificent tribute to this demanding art form.

Op.24 was written in memory of the year 1924, symbolizing an attempt to open up and innovate flamenco at a time when some were becoming entrenched in the dogmatization of past standards… If Andrés Marín draws upon the history of flamenco for his creations, it is to serve and reinvent it better.
