India, Egypt, Russia, Venice, the gateway to the East that is Istanbul, Asia from Bali to Beijing, from Tokyo to Jaipur… and Nice. The exhibition you will discover is taken from the travel book “Nice is Elsewhere, Watercolor Echoes” by Sylvie T, which she will sign on Thursday, December 14 at the Palais de la Méditerranée.
The artist, renowned for her attachment to the County of Nice, has sublimated its baroque architecture, its perched villages, the alleys of Old Nice, windows onto the city. Today, she reveals her other passion, that of travel and discoveries that nourish the mind and imagination.
The Nice Tourism and Congress Office has been keen to support this artist and her approach through her book in its dimension of resonances, echoes between here and other places, countries, continents by highlighting these “mirror” effects via colors, atmospheres, architectures, scenes of life…
These snapshots highlight the symbolic of Nice towards universal and reciprocal elsewhere. The cosmopolitan city imposes itself as the mark of a unique identity that resonates afar.
In the tradition of the 19th-century artists who testified with brush in hand, Sylvie T offers a view of the distant surprisingly close. The light stroke, the dense color, the singular luminosity, the captured life, the sublimated moment give this work an unusual reading of the world in which Nice is one of the components.
