Each year, the Collective for the Fight Against AIDS in the Alpes-Maritimes organizes events around World AIDS Day to engage the residents of Nice and its surroundings. Founded in 1995, the Collective is a group of associations and institutions that still unite today around a common project: conducting prevention and information actions through the organization of public events.
This year, Lucie Gamus, Océane Verstaen, and Virginie Watbled, students in Business Communication BTS at the Parc Impérial training center in Nice, are co-organizers of numerous events.
These students have mobilized to communicate about the event. They have helped find partners, create an image for the event, and publicize it to gather as many people as possible on the day.
In 2007, the Business Communication BTS at Parc Impérial will celebrate its 20th anniversary, and every year since its inception, students from this program have mobilized to support associations and carry out their actions.
Too many people consider AIDS to be a “simple” chronic disease that no longer results in death. However, 40 million people worldwide live with HIV/AIDS. More people have died from this virus than ever before: every 6 seconds, a person is infected, and every day, more than 8,000 people die from it. In France, there are 150,000 people affected by the virus, with 7,000 more each year. An estimated 40,000 French people carry the virus without knowing it. AIDS continues to strike indiscriminately, regardless of gender, age, color, or sexual preference.
More than 25 years since its emergence, it remains a discriminating and deadly disease.
Unfortunately, in the PACA region, the second most affected region in France by AIDS, the Alpes-Maritimes and Nice rank at the top with more than 6,000 declared HIV-positive individuals.

Their lively music attracted a large number of people until nightfall. Through their messages, they encouraged everyone to come and learn about the epidemic’s situation.

Friday, December 1, 2006
6:30 PM: Gathering in front of La Plage du Ruhl for the organization of the solidarity chain – red ribbon Each person will hold a piece of red fabric to connect with their neighbor and create this large chain of solidarity.
Why renew this year’s choice to create a solidarity chain – red ribbon: the Collective wishes to demonstrate that in the Alpes-Maritimes, we are capable of uniting against AIDS through a symbolic act such as linking:
– the link as the red ribbon originally a sign of solidarity with HIV-positive individuals, a way of expressing concern for the fight against AIDS.
– the link as an outstretched hand to another as a sign of friendship, as a sign of help.
This is why the Collective aims to form a Red Ribbon made up of people and the indispensable red fabric, emblematic of the fight against AIDS.
Moreover, the red ribbon solidarity chain was very successful last year, leaving a strong impression in the participants’ minds.
8:30 PM: Mississippi Nightclub Meet at the famous “Mississippi” for the end of this day of mobilization. Admission will be free starting at 8:30 PM!
