The Heritage Foundation is organizing a series of conferences in 2019 centered around significant projects it supports. Preserving both major and minor heritage has been a commitment of the Foundation for 20 years, in the Alpes-Maritimes and throughout France.
The Château de Guillaumes, known as the Queen Jeanne’s castle, represents a model of military architecture from the 13th to the 18th century, under three sovereignties.
Since 2011, the rapid deterioration has raised fears about the collapse of the keep. The restoration of this endangered monument benefits from the Heritage Lottery funds thanks to the Bern Mission.
The conference will take place this Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the CUM.
Speakers:
Catherine POTEUR, medieval archaeologist, president of the association Castrum Alpes-Maritimes, volunteer collaborator at CEPAM (UMR Université Côte d’Azur / CNRS)
Jean-Paul DAVID, Mayor of Guillaumes
Isabelle MASSEGLIA, President of Les Amis du château de Guillaumes
With the participation of Jean-Louis Marquès, delegate of Alpes-Maritimes for the Heritage Foundation, and Michèle Cianéa, former director of the Historical Heritage Service of the City of Nice.
