A team of 14 rescuers was sent to Nepal to find the three French climbers who have been missing in the Himalayas since the end of October.
On October 26, Louis Pachoud, Gabriel Miloche, and Thomas Arfi from Nice were reported missing in Nepal while attempting to climb the west face of Mingbo Eiger.
This Friday, November 5, France sent a team of high-altitude gendarmerie experts and an avalanche dog to try to locate the three climbers. The rescuers are traveling to Nepal from November 5 to 17, according to AFP.
The team includes ten rescuers who are members of the high-mountain gendarmerie unit (PGHM), including two national gendarmerie identification experts, a doctor from the high mountain military school, a high mountain guide from the French Alpine Clubs Federation (FFCAM), as well as a dog handler. The rescuers departed with approximately 600 kilograms of equipment.
The initial search operations were suspended on Wednesday for three to four days.
According to Nicolas Raynaud, president of the FFCAM, the main objective now is to recover the bodies “if we can,” he told AFP.
