Meet at the Francis Gag Theatre for two evenings of flamenco with jazz tones…
Led by composer-musician and producer Pierre Bertrand, the group of flamenco musicians and singers will perform pieces from the album “Caja Negra”, released in 2010.
In “Caja Negra”, Pierre Bertrand (who is also the director of the Nice Jazz Orchestra) revisits Spanish music, particularly flamenco, according to jazz canons with enthusiasm, dynamism, and freedom. In search of melodic beauty, he explores, with his vision as an eclectic musician, the musical worlds where melody plays the leading role: the music of the Mediterranean, South America, and Africa.
He has chosen to invite fabulous musicians who have the ability to create a sound universe in the moment. Joining them are the illustrious Paloma Pradal, Alberto Garcia, and Xavier Sanchez on the cajón, for singing and palm clapping. “Caja Negra” aims to savor the sound of each instrument as a soloist through a free and lyrical music, where Pierre Bertrand composes as if he were Spanish and plays almost as a native of Spanish Harlem…
