The shot putter from Nice increased his record to 20.36 m during a competition organized last Friday by Nice Côte d’Azur Athletics.
With this throw, Frédéric Dagée became the third-best French performer in history.
For his first outing of the season, Frédéric Dagée reassuringly shone on his form after a preparation slowed down by mononucleosis.
The reigning double French elite champion delivered a remarkable series of four throws over 20 m, each time improving or equaling his personal record. Frédéric Dagée propelled his 7.260 kg shot to 20.36 m on his fourth attempt, just six centimeters short of the indoor French record held by the late Yves Niaré (20.42 m in 2009).
The 25-year-old athlete made a leap forward in the French shot put hierarchy by placing third behind Yves Niaré and Gaëtan Bucki (20.39 m in 2011).
Absent from the last World Championships in London, Frédéric Dagée is now aiming for the required performance level for the World Indoors in Birmingham (20.80 m), before aspiring to a first participation in the European Outdoor Championships this summer in Berlin.
