French Trampoline and Acrobatic Sports Championship

Latest News

The top federal and national athletes, qualified in the three competition disciplines: Trampoline, Tumbling, and Acrobatic Gymnastics, will be present on May 6 and 7 at the French Championships, which will take place at the Bunoz space in Antibes.

530 gymnasts from 80 French clubs will compete for the supreme titles, with an eye on qualifying for the World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in June in Coimbra, Portugal, and the European Trampoline Championships from May 22 to 27 in Metz. The three competition disciplines are among the most spectacular sports.

Trampoline can be competed individually or in pairs. The objective is to perform a series of ten consecutive jumps. With each jump, the trampolinist diversifies and multiplies body rotations in the air, reaching heights of over 8 meters. The more technical the jump, the more points the gymnast earns.

In tumbling, the competitor runs down a 40-meter track (including the runway) and must perform twists and somersaults. During a competition, a tumbler performs two series of eight acrobatic elements and then two free routines if they qualify for the final.

The best tumblers can execute up to three double rotations in a single series.

If one were to compare acrobatic gymnastics with another sport, synchronized swimming would likely come to mind first. Routines are performed by groups of 2, 3, or 4, consisting of lifts and throws. These last 2 minutes and 30 seconds and include choreographic elements performed to a musical theme.

Thanks to the skills of the coaches and managers, the support of the honorary president, Deputy Mayor of Antibes Jean Leonetti, and especially thanks to the performances of the Antibes gymnasts, the Olympic Antibes Juan les Pins Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics is a reference in the field. The club wins about ten national titles each year and it is a just reward for OAJLP to have been entrusted with the organization of these French Championships, which will gather 1500 spectators each day.

President Jean-Marc Legros hopes to see his son Romain shine in trampoline. But other of his proteges will also shine: Solenn Bardy, Laura Léonard, Morgan Demiro, Mathieu Hubener in trampoline, Olivia Bardy and Tiffany Junqua in tumbling to name just a few. The club’s goal will be to retain the team gold medal for the 9th consecutive year in Acrobatic Gymnastics.
