They were 20 years old in the 60s. They are 20 years old today and they still love. 40 years after its birth, funk brings together an ageless audience for a unique event: the arrival of Sharon Jones in Nice.

The diva offers a return to the sixties. A club scene, at audience level, with a congenial and festive atmosphere. With its soul roots, a popular African-American movement derived from gospel and blues, funk provides an irresistible urge to dance. Sharon Jones invites her audience to come onto the stage. They do not hold back. The magic of the Dap Kings’ funk works, and the Lino Ventura theater transforms into a small dance floor.

Sharon Jones is above all an exceptional voice. That of African-American divas, deep and profound. She is also a small, feisty woman full of humor. Born in Georgia, in the same village as James Brown, the first master of funk, the artist offers a rendition of his “Man’s World.” A fiery duo with Charles Walker. The latter, hailing from Nashville, the capital of soul, ensures the first part of the concert. The duo closes with an enchanting rendition of Luis Armstrong’s “Summer Time.”

Guitarists, saxophonists, percussionists: eight musicians deliver a show of great musical quality. The audience is won over by Sharon Jones’s energy and her voice that gives goosebumps. These goosebumps make your legs tingle. The kind that makes you shiver, and laugh.
