cum-article.jpg For the first time, the reflection on intercultural management will focus on the specificity, or not, in the Mediterranean. Today, companies or institutions are facing the management of people whose cultural behaviors impact the achievement of entrepreneurial objectives.

The goal of this conference is to demonstrate how the modes of management practice, necessarily multiple and diverse around the Mediterranean basin, can provide answers to the questions posed by globalization and the internationalization of goods and skills.

Of note is the exceptional presence of Pape Diouf, co-President of the European Institute of Journalism and former President of Olympique de Marseille, who will share his experience of social interculturality through sport on Friday, November 26 at 4:30 PM.

The conference will be followed by the “Business Game,” a corporate game that has become a preferred tool for teachers over many years. The participating countries are: Algeria, Greece, Morocco, Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, Spain, and SKEMA from Nice. At the end of the game, the winning team will receive their prize in Nice in May 2011.

This conference, the result of a partnership between the City of Nice, the Mediterranean University Center, and the Institute of Political Studies of Aix-en-Provence, aims to bring together researchers, experts, business leaders, educators, and students around these issues.

THE CHALLENGES OF THE CONFERENCE

While intercultural management has been the subject of numerous conferences and publications and has captured the attention of economic leaders for several decades, this event poses for the first time the hypothesis of specific management methods for intercultural relations in Mediterranean basin companies.

Can we then speak of intercultural management specific to the Mediterranean area?

Are there values, practices, experiences within this area that allow for the identification of a geographical, historical, or conceptual specificity in the management of people and organizations?

Or are there stakes to be constructed, and if so, which ones? In relation to which partners, Northern Europe and/or the Middle and Far East?

The result of a partnership between the City of Nice, the Mediterranean University Center, and the Institute of Political Studies of Aix-en-Provence, this conference aims to bring together researchers, experts, business leaders, educators, and students around these issues.

The objective of this meeting is to show how the modes of management practice, necessarily diverse around the Mediterranean basin, can provide responses to the questions posed by globalization and internationalization of goods and skills.

It seeks to highlight the original managerial practices implemented by companies around the Mediterranean basin, at the intersection of Africa, Asia, and Europe, to try to enrich the theories and practices of intercultural management and the reflection on the training of students and business leaders in this field.

The themes addressed in the conference are as follows:

Heritage and foundations of Euro-Mediterranean identity

Challenges and values of a Mediterranean intercultural management?

Geopolitical and economic issues in the Mediterranean

Practices of intercultural management in Mediterranean basin countries

What training in intercultural management?

Conference on Intercultural Management โ€“ A daily subject
