The Gardens of the International Perfume Museum in Mouans-Sartoux present in 2011 the first summer exhibition featuring the artist Bernard Abril, an internationally renowned visual artist from the Alpes-Maritimes, from June 1st to November 6th, 2011.
Bernard Abril remains one of the most promising French contemporary visual artists in this form of artistic expression known as drawing in space.
Exhibiting in natural spaces or gardens, the artist’s work addresses the issues of Land Art, a subtle, ephemeral art, created here from plant materials.
By using bamboo, in creating life-size poetic configurations, Bernard Abril indirectly inscribes his pure and slender forms into the landscape in the manner of calligraphic writing.
For his exhibition in the Gardens of the International Perfume Museum, he incorporates an olfactory element into his works to give them an immaterial aura. He reuses and constructs his works from materials used in the perfume factories of yesterday and today: enfleurage frames, jute bags, containers of raw materials, among others.
