What is the role of sports in international relations?

What is the impact of sports on the economy?

What strategy can transform sporting events into a lever for tourism development?

Experts will attempt to answer these questions during a conference organized by Edhec as part of its BBA online program for High-Level Athletes, which will take place this evening at the Promenade des Anglais Campus from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

This conference, hosted by Bruno Kauffmann, a former sports journalist, will feature highly qualified personalities.

*Virgile Caillet will present the fundamentals of the sports economy and discuss the sports market (commercialization of sports goods, sports practices, and sports spectacles, with a focus on the relationship between media, companies, and sports entities).

Jean Philippe Lustyk will provide his expertise on media, the coverage of sports on television, and particularly on the issue of TV rights, which is increasingly the financial backbone of the Sport Business, especially in France.

*Véronique Valette will describe the sponsorship commitments of Eden Park and the return on investment they generate.

*Joël Bouzou will discuss the societal and diplomatic role that sports can play (Soft power). He will take the example of the Principality of Monaco, explaining how this small state can influence international relations through sports. He will also mention the economic weight of major sports events and the geopolitical influence of major international sports governing bodies like the IOC.

*Guilhem Guirado will talk about the relationship between players and club and French team partners within the evolution of professional rugby in recent years (the obligations for players). He can also be questioned about his personal contracts and the involvement of intermediaries (agents…) in negotiating these commercial agreements. He will also provide insights into the evolution of relationships with the media in a professional sport like rugby.
