Nice-Premium: In your opinion, what are the positive aspects of the Left Front compared to the other represented parties?
Gérard Piel: The Left Front is of public utility, a true list of gathering political activists, communists, the Left Party, the United Left, trade unionists, association activists, it carries in the first round the values of the left which also resonate with socialist or ecologist voters disappointed by the compromise of their leaders. Without the Left Front list, there would be thousands more abstentionists. Obviously, the second round will allow defeating the right by uniting the entire left.
Nice-Premium: How do you plan to meet the expectations of the citizens?
Gérard Piel: Our commitments are above all to remain under the control of the citizens during the term. In this, participative democracy will be essential. Our project breaks with Sarkozy’s reactionary policy, for example, free TER (regional express trains), the creation of a public regional bank with a social and ecological purpose, the commitment to a region without rental evictions, a program of thermal renovation of social housing, etc.

Gérard Piel: There are no weaknesses!
Nice-Premium: What score do you hope to achieve in the regional elections in the Alpes-Maritimes?
Gérard Piel: We will exceed 10%.
Nice-Premium: Do you plan to form alliances if necessary?
Gérard Piel: The two-round proportional electoral system allows for the unification of the left in the second round to defeat the right and its extreme. Of course, we will be part of it.
