“Il bene si fa e non si dice” (good is done, not said): this expression from Gino Bartali is not a rhetorical phrase but the fruit of a life experience.
This Friday at 4 pm at the Mediterranean University Center, on the occasion of the grand start of the Tour de France in Nice, journalist and writer Alberto Toscano will give a lecture in French to present his latest book “A Bicycle Against Nazi Barbarism.”
This book tells the story of Gino Bartali, a former champion who won the “Giro dโItalia” and the Tour de France multiple times. Recognized as “Righteous Among the Nations” by Yad Vashem, this cyclist helped to save many Jews persecuted by the Nazis in 1943.
This lecture, supported by Daniel Wancier, President of the Yad Vashem Department, will offer a moment of humanity and celebrate the courage displayed by Gino Bartali in facing dangers to save lives.
