There are 31 classes โ€“ nearly 800 children โ€“ from primary schools in Grasse (from kindergarten to the second grade) who, during the 2011 โ€“ 2012 school year, discovered the joy of singing together by participating in the Singing Schools, under the direction of Jacques Maes, a musician involved in choral singing, also a teacher at the Conservatory with Communal Influence in Grasse.

Since 1997, as part of its cultural policy for artistic education in schools, the City of Grasse has developed this initiative in partnership with National Education/Grasse School District.

The children from the Singing Schools will be accompanied by a student orchestra from the Grasse Conservatory and will perform songs by Jacques Brel, Salvatore Adamo, Annie Cordy, Maurane, โ€ฆ and many other Belgian singers.

This initiative is carried out in consultation with the Nice Academy โ€“ Departmental Services Directorate of National Education of the Alpes-Maritimes (D.S.D.E.N.) and the National Education Inspectorate โ€“ Grasse School District
