The Cavigal handball team secured their eleventh victory this season by easily defeating CSAV. Thanks to this success, the team from Nice remains firmly anchored on the National 1 podium.
As we enter the last third of the championship, Cavigal continues its good run in National 1. Facing a direct competitor, the team from Nice needed to secure a good result.
This is exactly what Cyril Parmentelot’s men achieved at home. The Azuréens quickly took control of the game. Romain Mouchot converted two seven-meter throws to give his teammates a +3 advantage after six minutes of play. Carlos Robles Garcia (4 goals) also stood out by scoring three times in less than fifteen minutes. Combined with the good work of Maxime Aicardi, Cavigal led by five goals (10-5).
A good start that was eventually cut down in no time by the team from Annecy. The Savoyards managed to come back to a tie within five minutes (10-10).
Alexis Bon shifts the momentum
Although the situation was far from simple, captain Alexis Bon put the pressure back on the opposing goal. With three goals in two minutes, he gave his team some breathing room. At halftime, Cavigal led (16-13).
Returning from the locker room, the match became tense. Several players were penalized with two-minute suspensions, leading to some confusion in the game. It was only in the last quarter hour that things finally started to unravel. Alexis Bon (9 goals), Kristian Vassiliev (6 goals), and Florian Graglia (5 goals) took control. The team from Nice eventually pulled away inexorably to win (34-29). A victory that keeps Cavigal in third place in the championship as the leading teams also claimed wins.
Now, the team from Nice has six matches remaining to aim for the top of the Fédérale 1. This will begin with a highly important match next Saturday against Grenoble (2nd). Kick-off is at 8:30 PM at Pasteur.
