They did it! After drawing in the first leg (25-25), the Aiglonnes claimed victory in a suspenseful finish.
The Aiglonnes had to fight hard to secure their qualification. After being held to a draw in the first leg at Fleury Loiret’s court (25-25), Carmen Martin’s teammates (8 goals) were trailing in front of their home crowd for a good part of their return quarter-final match (13-14 at halftime).
Thanks to a 4-0 run straddling the halftime break, Nice took the lead but then experienced a significant slump, finding themselves trailing 21-18 with thirteen minutes left. This was enough time for OGCN to equalize and eventually clinch victory with a goal from Carmen Martin (8 goals in total) 36 seconds before the buzzer!
In front of an euphoric crowd, the Aiglonnes finally won 25-24. In the semi-finals, OGC Nice will face Brest, who defeated Chambray Touraine in the quarter-finals. The first leg will take place on Sunday, April 28, and the return match will be held a week later, on Sunday, May 5.
