Hi Friends: A Great Return to the Yéyé Era

Latest News

The musical “Salut Les Copains” is set for a performance at the Nikaïa on Friday night. It’s a great way for some to relive their childhood and for others to discover the world of the 60s.

“Salut Les Copains,” this refrain, many people know it. The show first aired on October 19, 1959, and became a reference point for many young people in the sixties. A magazine was launched afterwards, in 1962, by Franck Ténot and Daniel Filipacchi. The print version introduced new talents of the French music scene but also, to a lesser extent, international groups, except for The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, who were already popular in jukeboxes. Between 150,000 and 200,000 young people gathered at Place de la Nation to celebrate the magazine’s first anniversary on June 22, 1963. The success was evident in a frenzied crowd.

It became the favorite show of the baby-boom generation. For seven years, young people flocked to the family radio to hear their favorite stars: Johnny Hallyday, Françoise Hardy, Sheila, Richard Anthony, Eddy Mitchell, Claude François, Sylvie Vartan, France Gall… A well-crafted lineup to dive back into the world of these singers still known by music enthusiasts. Vincent Heden as the “youth icon”; Anaïs Delva as Annie, a girl with a bad reputation, and Grégory Deck in the role of Jacques, the gang’s tough guy.

50 years later, “Salut Les Copains” returns to the spotlight for a unique show. Relive the yéyé years, and you’ll want to dance the twist. The biggest hits of the sixties will be performed at this unique evening. “Poupée de cire, poupée de son,” “Laisse tomber les filles,” “Tous les garçons et les filles,” or “Love me, please love me” will surely resonate in the hallways of the Nikaïa. But not only that. Also revisit political protests, long hair, emancipation, the birth of consumer society, as well as May 68 and its wave of freedom. So meet up Friday night at 8:30 PM. A real treat for the ears.
