A departure, arrivals, and confirmations. Such is the fate of Nice Hockey Côte d’Azur as it prepares for its new season. Among the new arrivals, Martin Slovak and Ales Cerny join the Eagles’ roster, while goalkeeper Kévin Fouassier re-signs for an additional season.
The departure…
Joona Peranen, who arrived in Nice at the beginning of the season, will not be wearing the Eagles’ jersey next season. The Finnish player scored 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) in 26 games.
…The arrivals
Forward Martin Slovak (1.80m, 81 kg) commits to the Eagles for the 2013/2014 season. The 28-year-old Slovak right-hander played last year in Montpellier, where he finished as the club’s top scorer (including playoffs) with 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists, averaging 1.44 points per game) in 29 games.
With extensive experience in Slovakia (143 extraliga games in Kosice, Proprad, and Zilina, 120 games in 1. Liga), Martin will bring his goal-scoring sense and teamwork to the Eagles.
Ales Cerny (31 years old, 1.82m, 90 kg) was an international player for the Czech Republic under 18 and even participated in the world championships for this category (2000). He spent most of his career in Czech clubs in the 2nd and 3rd tiers.
In 2009, he signed with Mont-Blanc in Magnus and scored 16 points (5 goals, 11 assists) in 26 games. The following year, he signed with Mulhouse in Division 1. Strong with the Scorpions, he had two high-level seasons (16 and 22 points). His 2011/2012 season ended triumphantly as Mulhouse won the D1 final against Nice.
Last year, despite his club’s relegation, he was the best defender for the Scorpions in Magnus, with a very respectable -1 record on the ice and 6 points to his tally.
Nice Hockey Côte d’Azur counts on Ales to bring his experience and physical presence to the Eagles’ defensive squad.
….. and the re-signings!
The young Nice goaltender, Kévin Fouassier, will stay with the Eagles next season.
French defender Maxim Belov will also remain on the Côte d’Azur next season. Trained in Amiens, the No. 55 of the Eagles recorded 1 goal and 3 assists this season.
Arriving in Nice last season, Nathan Saint James, a young Eagles defender, will also remain on the Côte d’Azur and will be part of next season’s roster.
The NHCA is pleased to renew the contracts of two players trained in Nice, César Fleury and Franck Fulop.
