The Eagles of Nice secured a victory in Amnéville with a score of 8-2. The team from Nice finds themselves in 8th place in the championship, just 2 points behind the 4th place team.
Stan Sutor’s men absolutely had to win against the championship’s last-place team. During the first match, the team from Nice fell to the Galaxians of Amnéville, so it was time for revenge.
Right from the start of the match, the Eagles put pressure in the offensive zone, although they didn’t capitalize immediately. At 6 minutes into the game, the players from Côte d’Azur managed to overcome a double numerical disadvantage, thanks in part to Jimmy Lundberg, who helped the Eagles stay in the game.
At the end of the period, the team from Nice found the back of the net, following a long pass from Jan Tomaska to Stefan Majernik, who went on to challenge the goalkeeper (0-1). Shortly after, Jozef Slaninak deceived the opposing goalie (0-2).
In the 2nd period, the Eagles experienced some fear. At 24 minutes of play, Amnéville opened their account with a slap shot (1-2). A minute later, the Galaxians equalized (2-2). But the Eagles were hungry for victory. On a power play, Stefan Majernik deceived the goalie (2-3).
Two minutes later, still with a numerical advantage, Jozef Slaninak scored the 4th goal for Nice (2-4). The machine was set in motion! Stefan Majernik, once again, scored his 3rd goal of the evening, still on a power play (2-5). Sylvain Roy’s crew found their
smile.
On a power play, Karri Koivu managed to deceive Amnéville’s goalie (2-6).
In the 3rd period, the Eagles remained just as dominant. Karri Koivu scored his second goal at 40’30 into the game (2-7).
With 10 minutes left until the end of the match, Stan Sutor subbed in the young Nice goalie, Kévin Fouassier. The young players from Nice took to the ice. At 55 minutes of play, Joona Peranen scored the last goal for Nice that evening (2-8). A great night for the Eagles.
The hardest part is yet to come, they will need to confirm this wonderful performance on Saturday night at the Jean Bouin Ice Rink, facing Neuilly in front of the Nice audience.
