It is the Public Prosecutor who would be responsible for this nighttime desertification of Nice. Indeed, he has just initiated criminal proceedings against seven clients of the sex workers who enliven the west of the city. This approach, new in France, has been justified by the prosecutor: “In the collective unconscious, the client would be the most unfortunate, the most to be pitied. But we cannot fight against prostitution without tackling those who promote and enable it.”
The law of March 18, 2003, states that “the act, by any means, including a passive attitude, of soliciting another person with the aim of inciting sexual relations in exchange for payment or a promise of payment is punishable by 2 months of imprisonment and a fine of 3,750 euros.”
Is it not regrettable, while there are only two fireworks left during the summer to animate the promenade which is becoming more and more deserted, to put an end to the last attraction that still brought a bit of nighttime traffic? But it may be painful to think that this was the only animation left!
