Valรฉrie FOURNEYRON, Minister of Sports, Youth, Popular Education, and Community Life, announced the launch of an information campaign aimed at High-Level Athletes (SHN) about the various measures implemented by the State to support them throughout their training and prepare for their professional integration under the best conditions.

The minister emphasized her commitment to making dual success, both in sports and professionally, the focus of her political action: “Two years after leaving the list, 79% of athletes are professionally integrated. But I am not satisfied with this situation. I want to fight for the remaining 21%! We must do better, to leave no one behind.”

To better inform the approximately 7,000 high-level athletes registered as of April 1, 2013, information tools will henceforth be distributed at INSEP, in CREPS and ministry institutions, as well as through the federations.

As a reminder, in 2014, the state will allocate 20 million euros for the individual support of high-level athletes, which is an increase of 5% compared to 2013.

What about what’s happening in Nice?

Since 2010, ESPEME, a post-baccalaureate school within the EDHEC group, has welcomed high-level athletes into its SHN program. The program is identical to that followed by students in the regular course of study.

The goal of the professors, tutors, and of course, the director of ESPEME Nice, Bernard Curzi, who launched the SHN program three years ago with Bruno Kauffmann, is to lead their student-athletes to graduation, allow those who wish to pursue their studies in a Master’s program, and ultimately ensure professional integration.

Their results are on average higher than those achieved by students in the regular program. This finding confirms the success of the initial project by the leaders of this prestigious business school, which is not just content to display the names of its student champions like international rugby player Damien Chouly, athlete Reina-Flor Okori, a semi-finalist at the Athens, Beijing, and London Olympics, or Thomas Roussel, a member of the French ice hockey team.
