The Notre-Dame Basilica, a genuine cultural heritage fully partaking in the landscape of the main artery of the City of Nice, is a neo-Gothic style building that required renovation work. Thus, in January 2010, a complete restoration (facades, roofs, and stained glass windows, among others) was initiated.
The completion of the work and the handover of the building were celebrated by Monsignor Louis Sankale and Father Jean-Louis Gordan, the Rector of the basilica, in the presence of Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, and Francis Lamy, Prefect of the Alpes.
-10:00 AM: The forecourt of the basilica will be enlivened by the groups ‘Ciamada Nissarda’ and ‘Lou Cairéu’,
-10:20 AM: A plaque commemorating the restoration of the building will be unveiled,
-10:30 AM: Grand Mass presided over by Monsignor Louis SANKALE, assisted by numerous priests of the diocese, and sung by the basilica choir
-11:45 AM: End of the celebration and exit in procession.
On this occasion, the bells of the new carillon commemorating the 150th anniversary of the union of the County of Nice with France will ring out loudly.
