This Monday, February 20 at 11:30 AM, the new “Carabacel” residence will be inaugurated, as part of an ambitious policy aimed at achieving the goal of 10,000 housing units, half of which will be in social housing, within the framework of the 2010-2015 Local Housing Plan (PLH).
‘Everyone should be able to enjoy a decent home to live with their family and raise their children. This is an essential prerequisite for transforming the territory into a space of citizenship, social connection, conviviality, and solidarity,’ says Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, deputy for Housing, Urban Renewal, and the Fight against Discrimination.
The Carabacel residence, built in 1981, previously consisted of 125 beds, including 72 rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. Today, it is a completely renovated residence with 108 independent housing units delivered by the company ADOMA (74 studio apartments ranging from 13.5 to 18 sqm, 33 studios ranging from 18 to 25 sqm, and one 3-room apartment of 73 sqm). The tenants, often isolated individuals with limited resources, have been able to move into housing equipped with a bathroom, a kitchenette, and are fully furnished.
