The General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes continues its commitment
to people with disabilities
The Departmental Observatory of Disability of Alpes-Maritimes (ODHAM), a permanent tool for evaluation and monitoring of people with disabilities, was created to better coordinate the actions undertaken by all partners and institutions working in the field of disability.
Its inter-institutional committee, composed of representatives from the General Council, 33 associations of people with disabilities and their families, the State, the Regional Health Agency, and social protection organizations, as well as its technical commissions, will evaluate and anticipate the needs of people with disabilities in order to provide them with appropriate responses in terms of social life and care.
The first meetings of the ODHAM technical commissions will take place in October 2011.
A mailbox has been set up at odham@cg06.fr for any questions related to disability.
Since 2007, the General Council has invested in supporting people with disabilities and was among the first to develop a departmental disability plan, the objectives of which have been achieved to date: opening or ongoing creation of 30 establishments, including 8 for aging people with disabilities, totaling 600 places.
In 2011, the Department maintains its commitment and allocates a budget of more than 100 million euros to continue fully developing its actions regarding disability.
