The most important festival in Islam, Eid al-Adha, commemorates Abraham’s submission to God, as Abraham did not hesitate to sacrifice his son Ishmael. For Muslims, he is the model of the believer, the first Muslim, and the messenger of God.
This festival, also called the “Festival of Sacrifice” or the Feast of the Sheep, marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca. It is synonymous with sharing and generosity towards the poor and the needy.
