Is the future of Saint-Roch Hospital still to become the “hotel of” the police?

Latest News

The future of the Saint-Roch hospital was the subject of a plan presented by Christian Estrosi some time ago: the former convent could become the headquarters of the national police (which would move from its current location), the municipal police, and the supervision center installed at General De Gaulle’s place. In addition to the inevitable real estate program that would be the financial engine of the operation.

Let us recall that the building is owned by the Nice University Hospital (CHU de Nice), which will have to decide on its future use, with the Mayor of Nice being the chairman of the Supervisory Board. It is not enough to say that the operation is a done deal, but it is still better than nothing.

An interesting idea that apparently received either approval or at least, no opposition from the Minister of the Interior during a visit to Nice.

A complex issue requiring a lot of administrative procedures and time.

Meanwhile, perhaps fearing that the operation might be forgotten, the National Front is reviving it and wants to act as the “political” guarantor.

A local campaign is planned, with 10,000 leaflets to be distributed throughout the area, particularly through information stands, and elected officials will meet shopkeepers and residents to promote this project that combines a return to security, proximity, and preservation of the building.

This mobilization also aims to remind Christian Estrosi that Frontists are not willing to let him monopolize a theme so dear to the people of Nice: that of security.

A lively neighborhood, with a mix of residents and a few shops, is certainly better than a lifeless and unlit building 200 meters from Place Garibaldi.
