The association Nice à Vélo is mobilizing for the safety of children and families by organizing the third edition of the Kidical Mass Nice on April 7th. This festive and family-friendly bike parade aims to promote the use of bicycles as a practical, active, and ecological means of transportation for families, highlighting the needs of children for a bike-friendly and safe city.
The Kidical Mass is a movement that brings together cyclists from 0 to 99 years old to claim road space during colorful cycling parades. By emphasizing the needs of children and teenagers, this event invites everyone to participate, regardless of age, whether with family or not. The Kidical Mass mobilizes people of all ages and transcends the boundaries of the cycling community. A city that meets the safety needs of children becomes a safe and pleasant place for all its residents.

The third edition of the Kidical Mass Nice is an opportunity for families and citizens of all generations to come together and show their support for environmentally friendly and accessible urban mobility for everyone. We warmly invite all Niçois and Niçoises to join this event where the bicycle becomes a symbol of freedom, conviviality, and safety on the streets of our beautiful city.
The year 2023 was marked by a sad reality in Nice. At least 8 children were hit by cars or motorized two-wheelers on the city streets, resulting in a tragic death. Aware of this concerning reality, the association Nice à Vélo is actively committed to calming the city, particularly to protect the most vulnerable users. They advocate for green and friendly spaces, as well as streets designed to ensure the safety and autonomy of children, both on bicycles and on foot.
A Call to Action
With the organization of the Kidical Mass, Nice à Vélo continues its commitment to the safety of the most vulnerable road users and for the calming of our streets. Since February 2024, Nice à Vélo has been the local correspondent for Rue de l’Avenir, a national association working since 1988 to pass on a safer, more supportive, and more enjoyable city to future generations.
Practical Information for Kidical Mass Nice April 2024
- Date: Sunday, April 7, 2024, starting at 2:30 PM
- Departure: Place Franklin (corner of Gambetta / Verdi)
- Arrival: Jardin Alsace Lorraine
- 2:30 PM: Quick bike tune-up with Cyclab06 and bike decoration
- 3:30 PM: Start of the ride
- From 4:30 PM: Picnic from the bag
- Route: 5 km without elevation in the streets of Nice, suitable for everyone, accompanied by Nice à Vélo volunteers
- All ages, all levels
- Helmet: Mandatory for those under 12, recommended for everyone
- Children: Must be accompanied by an adult and under their responsibility.
- Festive and free ride
- Children welcome on bicycles, balance bikes, classic scooters, rollerblades, in a trailer, cargo bike, or child seat.
