Yoann Serra’s drumming is subtle and powerful at the same time. The sound and precision he draws from his snare drum are remarkable both with sticks and brushes. This is a very useful asset for the bop repertoire, which is associated with often very fast tempos, dynamic phrasing, and very rich harmonic progressions, which he prepares with his friends.
The spotlight will be on the group’s compositions and other revamped standards, like those of Coltrane. Between the bop repertoire and Coltrane’s works, the jazz evening promises to be majestic.
