It is in a festive and friendly atmosphere, in the presence of a lively audience, that the 54th Floral Symphony proposed by ExpoFleurs was inaugurated. The heights overlooking the city will be adorned with a thousand flowers during the Easter weekend from April 22 to 25, 2011.
This entirely free floral event, organized by a team of over 150 passionate volunteers, will offer the public four exceptional and completely floral days, across twelve sites arranged and methodically signaled by a marked route.
Due to the economic crisis that occurred last year, the 2010 edition unfortunately could not take place. This is why the committee decided to evolve the event into a biennial! The ideas remain the same: to showcase and sustain the enhancement of local and regional horticultural production.
This year, around fifty horticulturists will offer you the chance to see and smell around forty floral species and nearly 100,000 varieties. They will be everywhere, without reservation, in bouquets that floral artists will passionately arrange at strategic points, from the small alley at the base, to the castle-museum.
Also on the program are conferences (notably on violets), floral art demonstrations, a presentation of the blown glass technique, and many other surprises to come. A weekend marking the beginning of spring with four days of festivities and activities between old stones and flower-filled jars.
Access to the Old Village can be done in various ways: on foot via the Montรฉe de la Bourgade to discover the succession of old houses, or via the legendary Chemin de Monsieur starting from Montรฉe Sous-Baou leading to the Chapel Notre Dame de la Protection. The less adventurous can take a free shuttle running in a continuous loop from 10 am to 7 pm.
Departure from the parking lot at Stade Pierre Sauvaigo, with a stop at the bus station.
