This Friday, June 24, 2011, at 3 PM at the Abattoirs – Chantiers Sang Neuf – the inauguration of Kunstellation+HQAC+Des corps provisoires will take place as part of Contemporary Art and the Côte d’Azur – A Territory for Experimentation, 1951-2011.
In its prefiguration phase, the Chantier Sang Neuf, a research-action process for the conversion of the Nice slaughterhouses, has defined the profile of the future entity.
This will be presented to you this Friday, June 24: Sang Neuf will be a transdisciplinary eco-urban platform, offering innovative modes of synergy between digital culture, scientific culture, business culture, and the self-productive cultures of the users of the 21st-century Smart City.
The Chantier Sang Neuf now enters its operational implementation phase.
In parallel with the global schedule of the operation, the Abattoirs-Chantier Sang Neuf will open to the public in a prefigurative manner of their program and future functioning, offering ‘sample’ spaces for events, debates, and living times.
These public experiments already have an operational framework, inaugurated today, coherently aligning them with the event Contemporary Art and the Côte d’Azur – A Territory for Experimentation, 1951-2011:
Kunstellation, a temporary habitable work by Didier FAUSTINO – an internationally recognized architect-artist-designer known for his specific work on the plasticity and corporeality of spaces;
And MMM – Manifesto for a Changing World by Stefan SHANKLAND, falling under his approach HQAC (High Artistic and Cultural Quality) which also integrates sustainable development objectives. The visual artist explores the artistic potential of urban sites, dynamic places to be integrated into city life.
They also have an exceptional setting from June to the end of October 2011: the Autopont Verany, which adjoins the slaughterhouses and will be closed to traffic during the summer, thereby becoming a public space for Creation/Recreation.
It will be provided as a stage for artists or creators, and offered as an unusual promenade to art enthusiasts and those who frequent the city.
First rendezvous: “Des Corps Provisoires #1”: a choreographic journey by the site-exploring company Antipodes, which offers a fresh perspective on public spaces and attempts to reclaim abandoned and downgraded areas. On June 24 at 4 PM – 4:45 PM – 5 PM.
