This Tuesday, June 6 at 2 PM at EHPAD Korian – Château des Ollières – 39 avenue des Baumettes
Since September 2008 with the “Reading for All” program, the City of Nice has been inviting writers to engage with schools, hospitals, penitentiaries, and associative structures in the City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and since 2017 in retirement homes and EHPADs. This unique initiative in France has been extended by the “Theater for All” program since 2015. These operations aim to prevent illiteracy through meetings between writers or actors and various audiences. Within EHPADs, they also aim to prevent and assist with the loss of autonomy among the elderly.
Christophe Turgie is the director of the Compagnie des Cent Causes in Nice, which works on developing theater practices, creating classical and modern plays, and sets no limits of style, era, or fashion in its artistic creation. He took courses with Nicole Merouze from the Comédie Française in Paris and underwent training at the National Theater of Nice.
Christophe Turgie is heavily involved in socio-cultural activities. In Nice, he teaches theater for the CCAS of Nice and works on rebuilding self-esteem, helping with public presentation, and accepting one’s differences as an added value. He has also been a theater teacher since 2014 for the seniors in the City of Nice, with whom he creates a performance each year, especially for the Senior Theater Festival in senior homes, etc. Christophe Turgie also works with France Alzheimer in Nice and offers writing and rehearsal of a performance with the close carers of patients, a public performance, participation of patients in rehearsals, and workshops for patients.
