Legislative 2024: What Are the Candidates’ Programs in Nice?

On June 30 and July 7, 2024, the French are called to vote in the legislative elections. In the Alpes-Maritimes, there are nine constituencies. Among these, several candidates have presented themselves. We summarize the program of those from Nice, notably from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th constituencies.

After the dissolution of the National Assembly, the French are called to vote in the legislative elections. On Sunday, June 30 and Sunday, July 7, 2024, they are summoned to elect the 577 deputies across as many constituencies. In the Alpes-Maritimes, there are 9 constituencies. The first, third, and fifth constituencies represent the city of Nice. We summarize the program of the parties and candidates.

The Extreme Right Union

Eric Ciotti represents the Union of the extreme right in the 1st constituency. In his statement of intent for the 2024 legislative elections, he states: “At the national and local level, I do not accept the disorder spreading in our streets, nor the disorder spreading in our accounts. For our country, I refuse the constant questioning of our sovereignty as well as the continuous decline of our economy. For our city, I reject the mayor’s extravagant projects, which lead to a massive increase in your taxes, as well as the systematic destruction of our heritage.”

He aims for protection against inflation and to secure decent wages. He wants to restore order and sovereignty. With the risk of proposing a right-wing alliance, he wished to carry the founding values of France: “order and freedom, love of the country, fair remuneration for work, fair reward for merit, strict management of public money, independence.”

Bernard Chaix represents the third constituency. He wishes to support purchasing power. Restore strength in order by punishing delinquents and criminals. He wants to halt migratory submersion, support agriculture, and also prioritize health by supporting hospitals and securing the supply of medications. Simply put, “simplify the lives of the French” by putting an end to the madness of regulations.

For the fifth constituency, it is the outgoing deputy, Christelle d’Intorni. As with the other two, she is focused on several issues such as: “The medication shortage, the issues encountered by ‘Restos du Cœur,’ the status of our municipal police officers, or the challenges faced by our farmers in ecological transition, and the reduction of the VAT rate on medications for animals.”

She has, for example, fought against school bullying and medical deserts. She has wished to prioritize local businesses. Finally, she proposed an asylum reform which she describes as: “the legal route of illegal immigration,” as she mentions in her statement of intent.

The Republicans

Only present in the first constituency with Virgile Vagnier. The party has nominated Virgile Vanier-Guérin against Éric Ciotti. According to some sources, he has always carried the values of the right and the center. However, he has no political experience. He declared on France Info: “I am motivated only by the desire to preserve the voice and integrity of all voters of the Republican Party. Today, they are left behind and abandoned,” explained as a citizen approach. A candidate who, until now, was unknown but will lead a campaign to face the outgoing deputy.

The Far Left

We find the same statement of intent for the three constituencies. With Alain Langouet for the first constituency. Estelle Jacquet for the third. And Agnès Benkemoun for the fifth.

They wish to increase wages, pensions, and allowances, and index them to prices, meaning they rise with inflation, month by month, week by week if necessary. As well as canceling setbacks on retirement or unemployment insurance. Finally, “not to be dragged into a third world war.”

“Let us refuse for our fate to be placed in the hands of generals and politicians who do not care for the lives of working-class men and women,” they explain in their statement of intent.

They add that the working world produces wealth and keeps society functioning. They claim: “a workers’ party, a revolutionary, internationalist communist party. A party aimed at overthrowing the power of the grand bourgeoisie, expropriating them from big businesses to make the society’s wealth available to those who created and create it every day.”

L’Ensemble-majorité présidentielle

For the first constituency, it is Graig Monetti. He has a project for the first constituency: the requalification of the Port neighborhood, the creation of Wilson parking and a brigade dedicated to parks and gardens with the recruitment of 50 municipal police. Then, he wishes for a requalification of the Massena pedestrian area, a new green corridor on the Saint Roch station. The continuation of green belts as well as a requalification of the Roquebillière slab and the Liserons.

From a more general perspective, for purchasing power, he wishes to cap distributors’ margins at 20% for essential goods.

On immigration, he wants to allow mayors to refuse family reunification to better control the territory. In terms of security and justice, he advocates zero tolerance for delinquents, lowering the penal majority age, granting mayors access to individuals listed as S. And allowing the immediate detention of minors for serious offenses.

Regarding the environment, he wants to strengthen nuclear energy for green and affordable energy, enabling regions to tax passing heavy goods vehicles for financing rail transport. In health and solidarity, he proposes helping single-parent families to find employment or reversing the burden of proof in cases of domestic violence.

In education, he wants to restore level classes with a maximum of 15 children and strengthen authority in schools. Finally, he wishes to make culture a public policy priority.

For the third constituency, Philippe Pradal. He wants, in the constituency, to act for purchasing power by better managing waste. Improve circulation. After the tramway line 2, we will support the development of the network towards Ariane and La Trinité. Better parking. By continuing to beautify the southern train station district with the delivery of an underground parking and a garden in front of Jeanne d’Arc Church.

More generally, he wants to restore order in the streets and at the borders. Better live by one’s work. Rebuild the school to be a protected place for the transmission of knowledge and values. Rebuild the health system so that everyone can access a healthcare professional under the best conditions. Protect the planet. And finally, simplify the laws to make all this achievable.

For the fifth constituency, Gaël Nofri. Five commitments for the Alpes-Maritimes territory: Western exit from the Mathis road, rehabilitation of village squares. Strengthen solidarity between territories. Limit the urbanization of the hills, green urban environments, and assist in the establishment of farmers. But also, reinforce grants to celebration and tradition committees. And finally, develop health centers.

Five commitments for France: Fight against insecurity, drug trafficking, and terrorism. Put an end to illegal immigration and restore all OQTF (Obligations to Leave French Territory) to the border. Increase your purchasing power and revalue work. Rebuild territorial planning policies. And to conclude, restore authority in schools.

The New Popular Front

In his program minute, Olivier Salerno, from the first constituency, defends the right to housing. He proposes relaunching social housing construction and creating emergency accommodation places. He wishes to repeal the Kasbarian law, regulate rents in high-demand areas, and establish a universal rent guarantee.

For the social emergency, he wants to block prices for essential goods. He wishes to raise the minimum wage to 1600 euros net and increase internship allowances. Negotiate fair prices for farmers and increase housing allowances (APL) by 10%. He proposes relaunching subsidized jobs for sports and educational associations and deploying proximity police teams.

For public services, he proposes revaluing night and weekend work. He wishes to give public schools an emancipation objective and initiate free education. Increase the Pass’Sport to 150 euros and catch up on missing positions in hospitals, schools, and justice.

He proposes guaranteeing access to public services, creating an early childhood public service. Renovate EHPADs and prohibit hotel placements for Child Social Aid. He proposes banning abrupt exits at 18 years.

The new popular front aims for retirement at 60. He proposes reinstating hardship factors and validating the RSA for retirement. Adjusting employer social contributions and creating an over-contribution on high salaries.

For the third constituency, it is Laure Quignard. She wishes to repeal three unjust reforms: those on pensions, unemployment insurance, and immigration. Revalue social minima, the minimum wage, and salaries, freeze energy prices, autonomy allowance for young people, rent price regulation. She wishes to implement fiscal measures for real social justice. And wants to make the acceleration of ecological transition a priority. Give the means to accessible public service.

But also fight for gender equality and move decisively on pay equality. Fight against antisemitism, all forms of racism, and all forms of discrimination. Reaffirm her support for the progress of European construction, the European Union as a relevant space. Reaffirm her support for Ukraine and total respect for borders. And finally, mobilize to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, the release of Hamas hostages, and the recognition of a Palestinian state. Things we find with Fabrice Decoupigny.

And so for the fifth, Fabrice Decoupigny. His desires align with those of the other candidates. Whether it’s blocking prices for essential goods, increasing the minimum wage and the minimum contributory pension, and APL. Diverse People

Jean-Claude Wahid Spach, from the first constituency, wishes to defend French sovereignty against European and global institutions. He also works for peace and justice everywhere in the world, starting with us. He wants to aim for zero waste by embracing a circular economy favoring short circuits, thus protecting the living.

Building an educational system close to the Montessori method, combining fulfillment and learning. Recognizing blank votes and transitioning to a society where citizens are at the top of the hierarchy. He wishes for each of us to express and act on “the life of the city, of the nation at any moment through the implementation of a Popular or Citizen Initiative Referendum.”

He wants to guarantee the autonomy of municipalities, regions. Ensure elders a dignified and respectful end of life. Guarantee, under all circumstances, the freedom to practice a profession. Allow everyone to reap the fruits of their work. Maintain a sufficient standard of living for all social categories and classes, enabling a dignified life. Finally, protect religious freedom and the respect for each one in a fraternal spirit.

Various, DIV

Maxime Bovis finally announced withdrawing his candidacy. And will support Éric Ciotti.

Under DIV, there remains Patrice Benoit for the fifth constituency who wishes to continue reform work to secure pensions. Defend the value of work, purchasing power through fiscal stability, strengthen the security of the French, and represent the interests of our constituency nationally.

Environmentalists, ECO

We find the same statement of intent for the 3 candidates. Lalla Chama Ben Moulay, for the first constituency. Marie-Françoise Caussin, for the third constituency. And finally, Axel Hvidsten, for the fifth constituency.

They wish to relocalize the economy and boost purchasing power by encouraging local authorities and entrepreneurs to promote renewable energies, the circular economy. By reducing the taxation of TPE and SMEs. And aligning labor taxation with that practiced in comparable EU countries.

They also want to evolve land use planning by moving from the current model of overcrowded metropolises to a dense and connected network of small human-sized towns. A way for the French to live close to nature and without stress.

And finally, unleash local dynamism by moving away from centralized power. By giving a prominent role to communes so that decisions applied locally are made at the local level in consultation with the inhabitants.

They also desire to stop cruel practices on animals, support refuges, and implement a daily vegetarian option in public catering. And hence, protect the climate and water.

Equinoxe

With Marjorie Vivo, only for the third constituency. She proposes supporting agroecology, local productions. Returning power to citizens through citizen conventions and media independence. Limiting access to digital devices for the youngest. Promoting thoughtful consumption with the help of the carbon score.

Finally, developing the military defense capabilities of France and Europe to guarantee our security and independence. And thus, orienting French diplomacy towards defending environmental objectives.

Debout la France, DSV

It is Thibault Delhez representing the third constituency. This party wishes to restore order, and borders by leaving the Schengen area. One offense equals one conviction.
