The voter turnout for the first round of the legislative elections in mainland France reached 48.31% by 5 PM on Sunday, according to the Ministry of the Interior. This figure is a decrease compared to the first round of the 2007 legislative elections at the same time (49.28%).
Total participation is expected to reach 60% throughout the day, according to an Ifop-Europe 1 estimate. The threshold to qualify for the second round will thus, on average, be 21.5% of the votes cast, to reach 12.5% of registered voters, as required by law.
At 5 PM, 41.03% of voters in the Alpes-Maritimes had cast their ballots for the first round of the legislative elections (44.36% in the 1st round in 2007).
In Nice, turnout at 5 PM was 45.3%.
