Latest News

With over twenty novels published, Peter James offers us, with The House of the Forgotten, a fantastic thriller, published earlier this year by Fleuve Éditions.

A beautiful Victorian house on a hill not far from a peaceful English village, surrounded by a vast area with a lake and ducks. A house with a tower, large rooms, an atrium… a dream home for the Harcourt family who have just moved in. Ollie, Caroline, and Jade, their daughter, are the happy owners. Of course, the house needs significant renovation work, but no matter; they are ready to face it. They will be happy at Cold Hill.
But gradually, the workload proves to be much more substantial than anticipated, and it’s not just the condition of the house that worries the occupants. Strange and distressing events occur and will quickly darken the atmosphere…
The Harcourt family will soon find themselves cornered.

Peter James, known for his series of detective novels featuring Inspector Roy Grace, offers here a fantastic thriller where the anxiety will not give you a moment’s respite. Like the film Paranormal Activity, things start off fairly innocuously but intensify significantly as the pages go on. Ollie is both the most impacted character and the one most stubbornly determined to stay in this house. It’s mysterious, gripping, unsettling, and ideal for this winter season!
The House of the Forgotten is a fantastic thriller that reads well, although one might sometimes wish the author had pushed certain scenes further, ultimately delivering something rather tame. Nonetheless, Peter James’s book remains an effective entertainment.
