It is time to say goodbye to the year 2023, which has come to an end. The previous year was rich in events for Nice, and here is our review of this year.
2023 concludes leaving the city of Nice with good memories and an indelible mark on the metropolis. Numerous events contributed to bringing this year to life. Some of them take place annually in the Azure capital, and it is interesting to review the year 2023. The mythical Nice Carnival and its floats were present as every year. An edition on the theme of the “King of Treasures of the World,” which once again honored this Niçoise tradition.
Another well-known event for the people of Nice, the Ironman which blocked the Promenade des Anglais and altered city traffic from June 24 to 26, 2023. The iconic triathlon race, usually held on the island of Hawaii, had its finale here in Nice. An edition that saw Sam Laidlow win the victory. A success also for the French participants. With 3 French competitors in the top 10 and notably 1 Niçois, Clément Mignon, who finished 10th.
The Allianz Riviera Stadium in the Spotlight
This year 2023 was also very important for Allianz, which saw two massive events take place. On Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30, the Allianz Riviera hosted a legendary concert by the new king of pop, The Weeknd. The worthy successor to Michael Jackson settled in Nice for his concert before nearly 70,000 spectators.
Another event at the stadium occurred from September 16 to 24, with the Rugby World Cup. The oval ball competition took place this year in France, and Nice was chosen to host 4 matches at Allianz. The matches were Wales-Portugal, England-Japan, Italy-Uruguay, and Scotland-Tonga. Scotland indeed set up their base camp here in Nice. It was indeed a year full of stories to tell.
