Nice Premium: Marc Concas, what are your initial reactions to your re-election?
Marc Concas: I am pleased with the renewed trust. It is the rightful counterpart of the efforts made over the past 6 years.
NP: How did you spend this unusual Sunday?
MC: Like all election Sundays, in the morning visiting polling stations, at noon delivering meals to the poll workers, then in the afternoon, a final round of stations and in the evening at my office for the centralization of results.
NP: You were the only one to defend a stronghold that some already saw tipping to the right. What is your analysis of this election?
MC: It’s a great victory in a particular context. This election was under close scrutiny by all observers, and the media had, through unprecedented media bombardment, made my opponent the future councilor of this district.
Even today, the newspaper Nice Matin mentions the supposed weakness of the vote margin (210) for this election, whereas this margin is considerable. For the record, I had beaten Gérard Bosio in 2001 by 165 votes…
NP: What is your plan for the coming weeks?
MC: To work tirelessly in this district and defend it at the General Council.
You don’t change a winning strategy.
NP: Finally, what would you say to the female and male voters of the first district of Nice?
MC: A huge thank you.
I also must congratulate them for their insight since they understood that an opposition councilor is a useful elected official, contrary to the claims of my opponent, whose risky candidacy has just led to a resounding failure that could jeopardize the rest of his political career.
The first district voted for a man of the field and closeness. This is the very nature of the cantonal election, far removed from the calculations of political machines.
