The first participation figure for the municipal election this Sunday, March 15, 2026 shows moderate momentum in the Alpes-Maritimes. The figure released at midday provides an initial reading of voter turnout, in a context where comparisons with previous electoral events shed light on trends.
According to the prefectural authorities, at 12 noon, the turnout rate in the Alpes-Maritimes department is 15.86%. This interim figure is above the level observed in the first round of the 2020 municipal elections, which stood at 13.87% at the same time. At the national level, participation is 19.37%, nearly four percentage points higher.
The gap remains notable compared to 2014, when turnout reached 24.58% at noon. More recent benchmarks from national elections also show an intermediate position: 23.34% in the first round of the 2024 legislative elections and 18.74% in the same year’s European elections at 12 noon.
This first indicator will be supplemented by further counts throughout the day, before results are published in the evening at 8 p.m. In total, 800,000 residents of the Alpes-Maritimes, including 228,006 in Nice alone, are called to vote until 7 p.m. in the department and 8 p.m. in Nice.
