Marc Levy, an “author” who makes you want to read again

Who is Marc Levy? A rescue worker? A specialist in computer graphics? An architect? Certainly, you wouldn’t be wrong if you answered me with one of these three options, with the only difference being that since the year 2000, this forty-something has traded his pencil and eraser for pen and ink.

1.jpg It was with the idea of writing a story for his son that Marc Levy ventured into writing his first novel: “And if it were true“. A love story with a paranormal backdrop. A woman is thrown into a deep coma following a car accident. Defying the laws of science, she travels through space and can only be seen by one person. This person decides to help her and will do everything to awaken this body that is not yet a corpse. Through this book, Marc Levy shows that beyond death, love exists, that true and passionate love can truly exist between two souls, and how in the face of obstacles, love emerges strengthened. I recommend it to all those who believe in the afterlife and who think that life is not just matter. Translated into 33 languages and sold over 1 million copies, literary critics will quickly be forgotten in the face of such success. Thanks to Steven Spielberg, his first bestseller will be on the screens of American cinemas starting in September under the title “Just like heaven” and November 23rd in France. I really can’t wait to see how this director brought the “Levy Magic” to the big screen. Will it provide as much balm to the heart and spirit?

2.jpg In 2001, he published his second novel, “Where are you?“. A mundane love story between two teenagers, one might say at first, but life takes care to make them suffer and make them believe that their paths are separating. This separation and especially a promise made on the day of a departure, will change everything in the life of one of them. Guaranteed change of scenery and a disconcerting ending! This new masterpiece teaches us that “you must pursue your dreams… but not while dreaming”.

3.jpg Two years later, “Seven days for an eternity” appears, a blend of humor, tenderness, love and even sometimes action. Through this third novel, Marc Levy opens the doors of our differences to us. Come to earth, Sofia and Lucas, an angel and a demon, have the mission to make their side triumph. But who, Good or Evil, will govern Mankind?

4.jpg In 2004, “The next time“, accompanied by its author, is on the shelves of the Nice Book Festival. True to himself, Marc Levy amazes us again on each of his pages. “Searching for a mysterious painting, Jonathan crosses paths with Clara. Both are convinced they have already met. But where and when?” Haven’t you already had that déjà vu impression? In this story, Love and Mystery defy time because each time our heroes touch, they find themselves in the past. What suspense from beginning to end! And what twists! Tears of sadness, tears of joy. This book proves to us that love is stronger than death…

5.jpg This year, Marc Levy returned to the Côte d’Azur with, in his satchel, his new novel “Goodbye“. Return to a universe where reality and the power of love reign supreme. It is the sequel to “And if it were true”. However, thanks to the magician Levy, you can start by reading his latest work and end with his first. The order of reading matters little. During this 10th Book Festival in Nice, I had the privilege of meeting him and I assure you that “Marc Levy” rhymes with kindness and simplicity.

levy.jpgPersonally, I read his first four novels in one month. Yes indeed! So there, you’re surely thinking to yourself: “But is this girl addicted?”. Not at all, I would answer you. I would simply tell you that the “Levy Magic” has worked. You just have to read the first 4 or 5 pages of one of his novels to be drawn in entirely until its very last period. IMPOSSIBLE to stop. As proof, I am not the only one to have had this absorption effect. Don’t you believe me? Try one and you will see that you too will take real pleasure in devouring his words in a few days.
His latest novel, which is surely a masterpiece, I have not yet read. Why? Well, in fact, I’m waiting for it to come out in paperback because that’s much more convenient. So I resist, I resist… But I can’t wait to “See you again”.
