“One should never associate the words boredom and culture.” This is explained to us by Madame Marland Militello, who is in charge of culture at the Nice city hall. We can affirm that Mars Aux Musées perfectly responds to this slogan. The students are here to present the 13th edition of an event made by and for students.
They all have, which is one of the innovations of 2014, a black sweater branded with the Mars au Musées logo and personalized with their name. They welcome us in the honors salon of the Lascaris Palace.
The theme of this edition revolves around the concept of “métamorph’ose” emphasizing the last syllable. Madame Frédérique Vidal, president of the university, in turn, provided a definition of this event: its goal being to associate culture and celebration. Dare to! We will often hear this word; it is the leitmotif of this invitation to cross the museum doors and discover the collections on display.
MICA (Mediators and Cultural Engineers Associates) is the initiator of this opening of museums to young people under the age of 26. Since 2001, this event born with the 21st century has given each year a resonance, not to say a particular shine, to creation and discovery.
Almost every day, the public is invited to shows, exhibitions, and even a gypsy jazz concert for the closing brunch. In total, about sixty artists, a third of whom are enrolled at the University of Nice. Mars aux Musées is an opportunity for all young people from Nice to access culture in a fun way.
The Villa Arson will be the setting where a series of conferences will allow young people to debate and exchange with the artists. Modern means of communication are not forgotten, and the internet and social networks should, on this occasion, multiply tweets and likes!
Let’s not forget that Mars aux Musées is above all about daring! Dare to enter a museum, dare to talk about it with friends. There are 9 emblematic locations in Nice: MAMAC, Musée Matisse, Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret, Musée d’Archéologie, Musée d’Art Naïf, Musée Masséna, Musée Marc Chagall, Palais Lascaris, and Théâtre National de Nice participating in this year’s event.
Mars aux Musées from March 6 to 29, a whole month to discover the secrets of the walls of our exhibition halls.
