The young people were in the spotlight at the end of the week at the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes. With Alain Bernard (sponsor of the class), Victoria Ravva (sponsor of the next edition), and Eric Ciotti, the young people were well supervised. A look back on a beautiful evening.
133. That is the number of young people who were rewarded last night. 62 girls and 71 boys, aged 11 to 16, all of whom were French champions in their respective categories. Representing 24 disciplines, from tennis to volleyball, including gymnastics or handball, they all perfectly represented the Alpes-Maritimes in 2013.
Considered ambassadors of sports in the department, they represent the future of sports in the Alpes-Maritimes. A total of 163 French championship titles were celebrated through 33 clubs and five colleges.
For this first edition, the department proves it stands behind the young people. However, Alain Bernard reminded the young attendees not to forget their studies, eliciting some laughs and smiles in the room.
Among those rewarded was Michel Guaresi, who practices karate: โItโs good to do things like this to reward young people. Plus, we have the chance to spend the evening with well-known athletes. Itโs nice to be recognized by the best and itโs encouraging.โ
Encouragement is one of the words Eric Ciotti emphasized when addressing the young people and the entire room. In front of proud parents, he also reminded them that parents played a significant role in the success of these young individuals.
Among these 133 young people, some might eventually find themselves in the spotlight in a few years. But the road is still long…
