Christian Estrosi met with Aurรฉlien Rousseau, Minister of Health and Prevention, this Tuesday, December 12. This meeting was held to present the project for the creation of a Citรฉ des Santรฉs in the Var plain.
The highlighted project involves the Var plain hosting the merger of the Archet hospital, the Antoine-Lacassagne center, and Cimiez hospital to create a โmega hospital.โ This plan aims to address the challenges of our region from a health perspective. The consolidation would allow the people of Nice and the residents of the Nice Cรดte dโAzur Metropolitan Area to benefit from a more coherent and streamlined public healthcare offering. According to Christian Estrosi, this is โthe largest hospital-university restructuring operation in Franceโ. He firmly supports this operation because, for him, these are important issues and he โwill hold nothing backโ. But what are these issues really?
Outdated hospitals
As the general director of the Antoine Lacassagne Center (CAL) reminds us, a functional and environmental analysis has been conducted. This analysis highlighted major issues concerning the CAL. The problems are as follows, โthe outdatedness of the Site Est buildings, difficult access, and no expansion prospects for developing its oncology activities,โ says Emmanuel Barranger, director of CAL. For him, relocating to the Var plain would โfacilitate our collaborations with our historic partner, the CHU of Nice, increase the visibility of public oncology, and address the consequences of an aging population.โ The project is also supported by the president of the CHU of Nice, who believes that โbringing together medical and caregiving expertise on a single site will promote research.โ In summary, a strong objective that appeals to Aurรฉlien Rousseau, Minister of Health, who expresses his happiness about having a strong political commitment and unanimous medical community.
