Under the Vichy government, more than 11,000 children, innocent victims, were deported from France. 400 of them lived in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The city of Nice, the National Education department, the President of CRIF – South East Alain Belhassen, and the President of the association for the memory of the Jewish children deported from the Alpes-Maritimes Michèle Merowka will pay them a heartfelt tribute during this ceremony.
By reciting the poem “Genocide” and performing the song by Corneille “Because We Come from Far”, twenty-seven students from Auber school will honor the memory of Rose Benadretti, Rosa Schechter, Claire, Fanny, Rachel and Renée Haïm, Simone Fridman, Mireille Rapapport, Hélène Rosenberg, and Micheline Rosine.
