Should it be heard as “One says, the other is a psych” or “Monday, the other is a psychotherapist” on the pretext that it takes place on the first day of the week? With psychoanalysis, one never knows. Nonetheless, psychologist and psychotherapist Bernard Benattar and psychoanalyst—and editorialist on our webzine—Jean-Luc Vannier have decided to embark on a radio adventure.
“In the framework of revamping our program lineup,” clarifies station president Frank Benzaquen, “we planned to highlight a show on Radio Chalom Nitsan FM 89.3 that aims to develop a theme on psychology each week and respond to the many questions of our listeners through live broadcasting.”
Every Monday at 5:30 p.m., the two experts on the psyche will discuss on the air the difficult relationships between parents, children, and adolescents, inviting listeners to participate in a reflection based on the thoughts of a master of contemporary thought: Sigmund Freud. “Entirely conceived around psychoanalysis, without completely confining itself to it,” this radio show intends to propose and draw from, according to its creators, an “empathic interactivity with listeners” by taking live calls or formulating responses to sent emails. Personal difficulties submitted by listeners or other significant clinical cases may thus be debated on the air.
This weekly program also intends to address the “multiple psychic sufferings of human beings in connection with the underlying social, political, or cultural issues”: the crisis of adolescence, drugs and the use of psychoactive substances, various addictions, school violence, the complexity of parent/child relationships, the Internet and the virtual world, sibling rivalries, issues of sexual identity, pathologies of family ties and roles within blended families, family secrets, eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia), challenges of career and personal orientation, stress, and workplace suicide, reality TV… The theme of the first show, which may be expanded upon in subsequent episodes, will concern “adolescent malaise.”
