MotoGP: Results below expectations for the Azuréens

After a complicated weekend two weeks ago in Portugal, our two riders from the Côte d’Azur sink deeper into their misery in Austin.

A Yamaha too far off the mark this weekend. Yet, Quartararo extends his contract with the Yamaha team for two more seasons until 2026. A difficult start to the weekend, during the sprint race with Zarco retiring due to a crash and Fabio Quartararo finishing in 15th place. For the MotoGP race this Sunday, Fabio Quartararo qualifies in 16th position and Johann Zarco in 19th place.

For the third MotoGP event, the meeting takes place in Austin, United States. Quartararo starts the weekend with a soft rear tire. The start is not satisfactory for Johann Zarco. On his end, Fabio Quartararo managed to climb to 13th place at the start but eventually drops to 19th place ahead of his compatriot. He still manages to gain two small positions. With 15 laps remaining, the rider from Nice loses a position. 

A Mixed End of Race

A Honda not satisfactory for the rider from the Côte d’Azur. Johann Zarco retires from the race once again this weekend. After retiring from the sprint race on Saturday, it’s his second retirement of the weekend. 

As for Fabio Quartararo, he manages to overtake his Yamaha teammate, Alex Rins, and positions himself in 16th place, on the verge of earning points. After a crash involving Marquez and his teammate Alex Rins, the rider from Nice manages to climb back to 13th place. For the last lap of the United States Grand Prix, Fabio Quartararo is on the tail of Jack Miller. He overtakes the KTM Red Bull rider and finishes in 12th position just a few meters from the finish line. 

The winner of the MotoGP race in Austin is the Aprilia Racing rider, Maverick Vinales. He is closely followed by the young Pedro Acosta and Enea Bastianini
