The city of Mougins is presenting the works of Xavier CARRERE, a glass artist, at the Jardin Gottlob (place Cdt Lamy) until July 3rd.
Initiated at the age of 13 into the techniques of glassblowing and shaping, Xavier Carrère, now 44, remains in a constant quest for balance, beauty, and emotion.
A unique and honest artist, Xavier Carrère has been based in the Landes for 15 years, advancing his creations through tireless, physical, and demanding work.
Xavier Carrère’s sculptures invite the imagination and the sensory experience of the viewer.
“Ovolites,” a term that combines ovoid and lithos (stone), marked the first change in Xavier Carrère’s work in 1998. It indeed speaks of the origin, the birth, the genesis, as evidenced by their rounded and maternal forms. At once the result of complexity due to the technical challenge of their creation and simplicity in their form, the Ovolites possess an essential beauty. The sculpture is offered to nature and thus stands as a symbolic offering.
Their poetic charge is strong, as is that of the Links he began creating in 1999.
