Robert Injey presented the cultural aspect of his project for the people of Nice during the municipal elections.
The candidate from the “L’Humain d’abord” list is, as usual, very critical of Christian Estrosi’s management: “Too centralized, victim of a narrow and sometimes overly spectacular vision, the cultural policy in Nice is far from what we can hope for. Culture in Nice is too distant from the daily lives of the people of Nice.”
“Our primary ambition is to create the conditions for a real democratization of cultural practices in our city and in the Mรฉtropole area, both from the perspective of education, critique, and creation. This primarily involves creating the conditions for a true dialogue between artists, the population, schools, the associative movement (artistic education, cultural education, popular education), the City, and the Mรฉtropole,” explains the Nice candidate from the Left Front.
Robert Injey wishes to promote cultural public services to loosen the grip of commercial cultural policies on society. To ensure these services are embraced by the population, he also deems it necessary to adopt cultural mediation as a strategy for access to culture.
The Five Proposals of the L’Humain d’abord List
1/ Organize the first “รtats Gรฉnรฉraux de la culture” in Nice starting in the fall of 2014, with the ambition of creating a Cultural Council. This council, gathering all concerned stakeholders, will enable coordination of actions, sharing of resources, and definition of guidelines with the aim of contributing to the development of a territorial artistic and cultural development plan.
2/ Create a network for artistic and cultural education to associate educational circles with cultural mediation strategies through project development and partnerships with cultural creation and distribution venues, libraries, schools, the Regional Music Conservatory, community centers, and popular education associations.
3/ Implement mechanisms to establish a lasting and structured relationship with an artist and an artistic team in a territory to collaboratively build an artistic project with the local population in a spirit of solidarity and non-competition.
4/ Encourage the creation of artists’ workshops, rehearsal rooms, and a recording studio… The city’s real estate already offers possibilities. We also want to include the creation of workspaces for artists in construction programs where the City is involved. Finally, we will propose such spaces in certain public places, like schools or the university hospital center (CHU).
5/ We want to dedicate emblematic buildings of the city of Nice to culture. Thus, we support the ambition of a “Louvre in Nice” project for the Sarde Palace. We aim to make the Filley Barracks a privileged location for setting up artists’ workshops open to the city. We want to review the Abattoirs project.
