Gathered once again on June 21, over a hundred people involved in the “Nice 2026” appeal continue their collective work toward the municipal elections. Their goal: to build an alternative path against Christian Estrosi and Éric Ciotti.
They were already numerous on April 29. They were so again this Saturday, June 21, gathered at CLAJ in Nice. Since the launch of the appeal “Let’s Take Charge Now!”, the mobilization has been steadily growing. Political activists, association actors, and citizens meet, exchange ideas, and debate. Together, they aim to create the conditions for a credible municipal alternative against the right and the far-right.
The intention is clear: not to leave the field open to Christian Estrosi or Éric Ciotti. The participants highlight an urgent social, environmental, and democratic need. Poverty, housing crisis, pollution, over-tourism: these issues have been noted. However, for them, the time is no longer just for denouncement. It is a time for action.
“It is not enough to acknowledge the dead ends of Estrosi’s management. It is not enough to denounce the threats posed by Ciotti or Vardon to Nice, its inhabitants, and democracy.” The message is direct. It’s about proposing another city project based on social justice, ecology, local democracy, and solidarity.
A Unitary Approach in Construction
Unity is a key word in this approach. The organizers claim to have invited all left-wing forces to join the movement. For now, ViVA!, France Insoumise and Ensemble! have responded positively. A delegation will be appointed to meet with other groups that have not yet joined.
The co-construction process intends to be open. It aims to gather proposals from the field. Mobility, housing, schools, culture, ecological transition, peace: the themes are numerous. The participants assert their desire to work hand in hand with the people of Nice, not just settle for a fixed program.
“A dynamic is underway, reflecting the existing expectation within the population of Nice to open a new path.” The appeal remains open. Those who wish to contribute to this collective construction are invited to join the movement.
